FOUNDATIONAL BELIEFS

  • We believe that God has revealed Himself through the Bible.  We believe the Bible, consisting of the Old and New Testaments, to be the only Inspired, Inerrant, Infallible, and Authoritative Word of God.

  • We believe in One God, infinite in Wisdom, Goodness, and Love.  We believe that He is eternally existent in three persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

  • We believe that Jesus Christ is the only-begotten Son of God.  We believe that for us and our salvation He took on human form, that He was born of a virgin, that He lived a sinless life, that He performed miracles, that He died on the cross for our sins, that on the third day He was bodily resurrected, and that He ascended to the right hand of God the Father.  We believe in His second coming in power and glory.

  • We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful mankind, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is essential.

  • We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit.  He takes the things of Christ and reveals them to us, renewing, comforting and inspiring our souls.  We believe that only by His indwelling power and fullness are Christians enabled to live a godly life in this present sinful world.

  •  We believe that Jesus Christ will raise up all the dead, give eternal life and everlasting joy to believers, and condemn unbelievers to eternal punishment.

  •  We believe that the unity of the Church can only be brought about by a common faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

BECOMING A MEMBER

The baptism & Membership process at WDCC has been designed to be both simple and meaningful—each step has been carefully planned with you in mind:

[  ] Attend the Membership Class: The class called “FOUNDATIONS” will further inform you about the details of baptism and the Lord’s Supper and give you an overview of the kind of church we want to be. These classes are scheduled throughout the year. Contact the pastor for information about the next class.

[  ] Meet with the Church Leadership: We would love to hear the story on how you came to trust in Jesus.

[  ] Prepare Something to Say: Though this step is optional, It would be an awesome moment as you share briefly a short testimony as to what Jesus has done for you or what He means to you right before you get baptized.

[  ] Schedule a Date to be Baptized

At WDCC we link membership with baptism. Part of the meaning of baptism is not only to identify with Jesus but also to identify with His people. If you said you liked me but didn't like my wife, I would be offended. In the same way, It doesn’t make sense to want to be identified with Jesus but not with His Bride.

To become a member of WDCC you must…

  1. …have made a personal decision to follow Jesus and meet with the board of Elders to share your story.

  2. …been baptized by immersion.

  3. …agree with and sign our church doctrinal statement without reservation.

ACCEPTANCE

AUTHENTIC ACCEPTANCE

There is a lot of discussion today on what it means to truly welcome and accept someone. Without a doubt this is vitally important in an age where people are not valued.  The Scriptures clearly teach that each human being has great intrinsic value because all people have been created in the image of God. As a church we seek to hold God's standards and value everyone without preference.

Below are some simple statements that we hold to. We are not perfect but desire that we would love and accept every person that comes into our church with the love of God.

  • We will strive to welcome people as individuals and recognize that your experiences may not be like our own. So we will seek to understand and communicate clearly. We will lovingly address hurts and disagreements as Jesus would.

  • We accept people right where they are for we know everyone is at a different point in their spiritual walk. If you have not come to a personal faith is Jesus yet, you are welcome to listen, challenge and explore. We hope that we can get to know you and you, us.

  •  We strive not to stand in judgment of anyone. The Scripture teaches that everyone falls short. Every person is broken in some way for we live in a fallen world. However, we will never affirm clear sin but seek to walk with you as you seek God's best for your life.

  • We believe every person has the potential to live a life that is honoring to God in Christ. Our job is to aid you in finding that potential and expecting that you do the same for others as we seek to be a authentic welcoming community.
